Ui-dong
U i-dong
Gangbuk-GuName, Ui-dong came from a peak of the mountain that looked just like the ear of a cow (Wooi). Ui-dong was quite distance away from the capital castle but it was recognized as one of the villages outside the capital castle. According to the Ordinance Yukjeon in the first year of King Gojong (1867), there was Wooidong-gye in the Hanseong-bu Dong-bu Soongshin-bang (outside capital castle), and in the literatures around Gap-o reform times, there was Wooi-I in the east west soongshin-bang (outside capital castle) of the outside small east gate.
