The March First Independence Movement Reenactment in Bonghwanggak Pavilion

  • Major Events :The March First Independence Movement Reenactment commemorates the March First Independence Movement by reenacting the events of the day at Bonghwanggak Pavilion, the start of the movement, and revealing the movement’s historical significance. The reenactment begins with a bell ringing event to honor the 33 leaders of the March First Independence Movement at Doseonsa Temple of Bukhansan Mountain, and leads to a wide array of activities that anyone can participate in on the 2km section stretching from Doseonsa Temple to Bonghwanggak Pavilion, and Pine Tree Park to the entrance of Bonghanggak Pavilion. These activities include road plays, a street parade featuring waves of the Taegeukgi (Korean flag), paying respects and leaving floral tributes at the grave of Uiam Son Byeong-hui, and events to celebrate the March First Independence Movement at Bonghwanggak Pavilion.

    • Exhibition: Photo display featuring the development of the March First Independence Movement (auditorium, Bonghwanggak Pavilion)
    • Hands-on Events: Demonstration of the printing of the Declaration of Independence, making Taegeukgi (Korean flag), making mansaejumeokbap (Rice Ball)
