Yongdeok Temple which is located on the Mountain Bukhan has no known history of the founder and date of foundation. It has been well known only as a great place for dragon, so many people visit the place to pray to this day. For this reason, monk Jungcheon wanted the temple to become a place for learning righteous ways of Buddha and great place for prayers. So he has brought the three true relics of Buddha from India in 1997 and changed the face of the temple to “Jeokmyeoldoryang”.
The Jeokmyeoldoryang nowadays forms steps with a look of the hill and respectfully keeps the true relics of Buddha. Relics of the Buddha are considered the same being as the Buddha himself and served as a sacred one for worship. Temple that hosts the relics symbolizes as a shrine where the stone Buddha is lecturing the laws of Nirvana. In Korea, there are five treasure courts where Buddha’s true bone relics are kept. Monk Jajang has brought the relics from Tang dynasty of China and divided and kept them.
